What Laws Govern Ergonomics

Q:

What Laws Govern Ergonomics?

A:

OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) is the federal agency that governs ergonomics.  Ergonomic compliance is enforced by OSH Act’s General Duty Clause which states that employers must keep their workplaces free from recognized serious hazards, including ergonomic hazards.  OSHA’s mission is to insure that workers safety and health concerns are addressed by their employers. The agency created specific workplace standards and regulates businesses to make sure these standards are implemented. OSHA has an FAQ that is written from their perspective and is worth a read.
